'Stone Houses' Postmortem
Hello all!
This is simply my postmortem regarding my retrospect on 'Stone Houses,' both in terms of how I feel I executed and what I learned in making it.
For starters, 'Stone Houses' really helped me learn using Twine as a software, being the first project I've completed all the way through utilizing it. I feel far more comfortable with the program ever since completing 'Stone Houses,' and look forward to completing more projects through its use in developing myself as a writer/narrative designer.
'Stone Houses' was also my first time really dabbling with the narrative design elements of my career interest, which has certainly helped me really develop a stronger eye for how my games are engaged with and making it as easy and enjoyable of an experience as I can for those who play through my games, in this case being 'Stone Houses.'
'Stone Houses' also marked my first execution regarding having two character perspectives to play through the eyes of, which I see as a fundamental element to every game I seek to write and create. While I think for a first game I did an overall good job at differentiating the perspectives, I think the endings ended up being too overly samey in execution, which is something I've kept in mind for my future games moving forward.
'Stone Houses' has also been forcing me to get more familiar with coding, even if at a rather surface level approach, but I certainly aim to try pushing myself deeper into it with future projects!
Overall, I feel 'Stone Houses' turned out to be a great first text game project as a whole, and I look forward to creating more and bettering myself at the craft of them!
Until Next Time!
